February 2010 Show Jump Camp with Tracey Newman

by Bobbi 23. February 2010 06:30

The only love in the air on this Valentines Night was for our horse's.

Another great camp was had by all and we were not put of at what the great British weather could throw at us. From glorious sunshine to fog then rain, last but not least snow. We got it all Debbie and Laura got the worst of it but still jumped fantastic.

Tracey's training was as usual top class out of the ordinary with fantastic results for both horse and rider.

We covered a number of things including grid work and no one else does it quite like Tracey her exercises are amazing. Seeing is believing in fact you don't quite believe these exercises  till you ride them. Boy do you know you have ridden them. I have never ached or smiled as much as I do after Tracey's exercises.

Well done to Sara! At this camp she was jumping 1mtr - 1mtr 5 indoors on a tight course, it was great to see as she was so nervous of Jumping this time last year .

To see Sara jumping go to Events then at the top of the page go onto Past Events 14/02/10

From Ex Racer to All Rounder Camp

by Bobbi 22. February 2010 07:57

Here's an up date on our February Camps.

From Ex Racer to All Rounder - This was a real eye opener of a camp as Debbie's presentation gave us the Ex Race Horse owner a real insight into a day in the life of a race horse showing us how busy and fit these horses were and how their new enviroment, living with us is so massively different. Debbie also pointed out the some problems we may experiance and how to address and over come them and also the real positive side to owning a Race Horse It was great.

Ollie the Farrier gave us a passionate fantastic lecture demo about the thoroughbred foot and any problems we may come across and how important  it is to have a farrier that really understands this type of foot and how regular shoeing is vital to keep the thoroughbred sound. A big thank you to Ollie.

Bailey's Horse Feeds provided us with a practical nutritional advice pack explaining the dilema of feeding the ex racehorse and lots feed information for us to take home and digest Many thanks to Bailey's.

I think we all over came a problem or fear as in my case, thanks to Debbies fantastic training and understanding of our type of horse and she pointed out things that perhaps some other trainers not as familiar with the race horse may of mist.

Now for the training it was great.

  • Evaluation
  • Flat work
  • Pole Work
  • We did a dressage test
  • A simulated show
  • To finish a course of jumps

Amazing !! All this in just 2 days

We all came away with a smile on our faces and a better understanding of our horse's. Thanks Debbie!

Anyone with an Ex Race Horse these camps are a must !

Another year over and a new one just begun !!

by Bobbi 11. January 2010 07:33

I think there's a song in there somewhere !! He He

HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all

Oh my daze can't delieve the weather we have had, how bazaar has it been? I can't remember the last time the snow was here for so long.

It has had a real knock on effect with all of us and our horses. No riding at ours at the moment. We are snowed in and our outdoor menage is frozen Frown We don't have the luxury of an indoor menage. Perhaps I should work on that one ?

News on the grapevine is get ready for the big thaw. So I'm on with getting ready now.I have whispered in to horses ears get ready to rumble  they just looked at me in a vacant expression in their eyes and ingnored me but the should know I'm serious as  I have started to clean my tack. Boy did it need it !!  Ready for the 2010 season.

On a more serious note lets see if we can motivate each other its hard enough in winter without this weather so it will be even harder this time.

I have got the training for you and we have only not had any training organised in January so far this winter so I don't think we are doing to bad.

Come on then lets get training new dates being added all the time. Why don't you let me know what you would like to see in our training etc and we will do our best to deliver.Smile

Perhaps we should have a Monthly or Weekly Horsey Top Tips? What do you reackon ? My Top Tip - Is get ready to rumble! get all those jobs done now then your ready for getting back on board as soon as the snow has gone!!

Ps heres a Photo to make you smile, taken at one of the camps last year. Bottoms up!!

Hey heres a photo of Kelly and Cams 1mtr 50cm jump they did!!! Can you see them?
